Meet Cynthia A. Welty
In 1982, Welty obtained a Practical Nurse License (LPN) from Bowling Green Area School of Nursing. In 1989, she earned an Associate Degree in Applied Science as a Registered Nurse (RN) from Owens Technical College. She is also a two-time graduate of The University of Toledo, where in 1999 she earned a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies and in 2001 a Juris Doctor.
Judge Cynthia Ann Welty has more than two decades of legal experience. She has been a practicing attorney, taught criminal justice classes at Terra State Community College, and was a magistrate at the Sandusky County Court of Common Pleas. Judge Welty formerly served as acting judge for the Fremont Municipal Court and the Sandusky County Court, District One. Judge Welty currently sits as the elected judge for the Sandusky County County Court, in both Clyde and Woodville locations as of January of 2025. Judge Welty also runs a Specialized Docket Court called the HOPE Court. HOPE Court strives to break the cycle of addiction and reoffending by participants through judicial supervision.
Judge Welty lives in Clyde with her husband Jim and their beloved dog Abby. She has a son and daughter, along with 2 step-children, together with 9 grandchildren. In her spare time Judge Welty enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family.
